The Island

Many people’s memories of Mallorca are package holidays on crowded sandy beaches. It is true that there are still large beach resorts but, there is another side to the island, which is vast mountainous areas with peaks as big as Ben Nevis and miles of unspoilt coastlines. The Balearic government has been very proactive in protecting the environment, forming many National Parks on land and sea. Planning restrictions are now rigorously applied away from the large resorts and much emphasis is given to eco-tourism.

The image of Mallorca has changed over the years and it has developed into a very sophisticated destination. Many celebrities have made a home here; the most famous being Michael Douglas, who has been a great ambassador for the island. Palma is the capital of luxury yachting in the Mediterranean and is an interesting city in its own right, with stunning architecture and excellent shopping. For these reasons many businesses have developed to cater for these markets and there are many world class hotels, as well as an incredible selection of international quality restaurants.
